How about crowd system? Esenthel doesnt work really good with many actors on screen, from what I have seen.

Its stuck at 0.000. Lib and headers are to be updated manually? I thought auto-updater does that.

I'd add to this perhaps ability of adjusting physical attributes of elements (like, for example, weight or gravity. Would be useful for making planets and stuff instead of flat heightmaps).

You can turn the fx off using App.flag=APP_NO_FX;, as said in first tutorial. But even then you will need graphic card with shader support.
