it seems that the distortion has more to do with whether a keyed bone is central, head spine ect. or a limb. maybe has something to do with blenders mirroring? although I can't see how that would caus...

When importing into the mesh editor the mesh is fine but all my bones are reoriented and rescaled. Oddly enough this doesn't distort the mesh any. other than the odd bone potions everything looks fin...

lol, I guess all that time removing triangles from my topology was well spent. Should I just let the mesh editor triangulate or do it myself? Is there any advantages to using quads at all?
