Neither of the applications work. Assuming that i have a general physx problem i have completely flushed out the nvidia drivers and reinstalled them all. That did the trick.

Yes I have installed that version of the system software. I had before the game software for 2.8.1 and at one point some drivers that contained the system software. I also have the 2.8.1 sdk installed...
