Convert error- Mode 3
I have a series of new textures I have been working on the last few weeks. Now that I am done with them, I went to convert these and replace the older ones I had made a while back.

However, I have a problem. I keep getting an error and then Esenthel Converter closes out. Odd thing is, this was working previously. Now it will not work, and I am at a loss. Once more, I have not done anything to change any files, directories

The errors are as follows: (see attached screen shot)
BMP: "Can't create texture 1024x1024x1, type dtx3, mode 3"
DTX3: "Can't create texture 1024x1024x1, type dtx3, mode 3"
DTX 5: "Can't create texture 1024x1024x1, type dtx3, mode 3"
B8G8R8A8: "Can't create texture 1024x1024x1, type dtx3, mode 3"

File format: dds
File format: png
File size: 1024x1024
File size: 512x512

I can, however, convert jpg's over, however that will not help me with saving and using the textures with alpha maps.

I have not changed anything from a few weeks ago when it was working. I had tested out a couple textures to see how combining regular and alpha textures would look. and yes, I did use dds format to convert the images.

Any thoughts or ideas? am I missing a file somewhere? (Could be possible as i did clean my system using perfect disk not too long ago.)

Peace,
Sarrene'

RE: Convert error- Mode 3
Could you try installing latest GPU drivers, and latest DirectX?

I had the latest drivers, but uninstalled and reinstalled them again.
(re)Updated all microsoft visual studios 8 and 10
(re)Updated all esenthel files
DirectX 9.28.1886
nVidia 197.75
Restarted system.

Still no go. I am still getting the same error. Thoughts?

Peace,

RE: Convert error- Mode 3
Umm.. all of them? I will start with sending you a few, since i have a LOT of them. However none of the dds are working now, even the ones I had converted a few weeks ago, as well as the old ones from a month or so ago.

Sending them your way now.

Peace,
Sarrene'

RE: Convert error- Mode 3
Thanks!
I was able to reproduce the problem, I will try to fix it for the next engine release.
However I think that PNG should work ok.
You could also try using non-compressed DDS (not DXT3, but A8R8G8B8) there should be an option when exporting dds from photoshop.

Please send me that file too (in the package I've received only DDS files)
Thanks

RE: Convert error- Mode 3
Im sorry,
Yes, png does work. However any format of dds does not. I apologize for not being clear in my last statement. That was not too clear.

Peace,
