RE: The MMO
Give the power to the players, and a natural evolution will take place to set everything right smile

That way the players adapt to griefers by making traps etc. etc.
Also... Instead of blocks, it would be cooler and more innovative to use voxel terrain, with different material properties.

Dirt would be easy to destroy, wood shouldn't be easy to be destroyed with your bare hands and stone should be impossible and might even hurt you.

If building materials(raw tree) needed to be cut into smaller pieces etc. etc. there should be an innovative crafting system, which I would love to design pfft

Crafting is my life, it's SO fun!
I could be great if there were some kind of physics to the voxel terrain, and with the increasing computing power of the future and today, the problem isn't as large as it was before.

Let me draw you an example really quick
Here's the image

the attachment doesnt work -_-

RE: The MMO
Forget it...

I just wanted to be able to "fully" manipulate objects to make custom items that has not been seen before, nor made by the dev

This allows for true innovative crafting

RE: The MMO
Have a look at the crafting system of Mortal Online; it's an "mmofps" using the unreal engine.
I didn't play it very long, but the crafting system struck me: You had lots of different types of wood, stone, minerals, etc, which you could combine to make weapons.
For example: You could make a bow with a handle of stone, a soft-type wood for the arms,.. You could even make the arms out of stone, but that would prove to be a very ineffective bow. smile

RE: The MMO
Why don't we take that one step further? By making the player shape the materials using tools they've made themselves too?

I think it requires some smart thinking, but hey! That's what developers do!
I generally dislike premade items
Raw materials should be premade tho pfft

RE: The MMO
That is a cool link.

The more basic the materials and info the cooler the things people will make.

Look at Minecraft, it has all sorts of very basic things such as wires and buttons that you can make cool things with. If you create things basic people will figure out how to make more advanced things.

This is pretty much what I'm hoping for grin A MMORPG version of Garry's Mod grin Though I'm pretty sure we won't be able to add rockets to anything.
