RE: Video Tutorials
Haha yeh man I looked into it a few weeks ago.. but unfortunately I don't qualify.. I haven't released any games before and the minimum pre-requisite is that I have released 2 publicly available games. :(

Maybe I can quickly make 2 crappy games for mobile and then apply hehe. lol

Screens Australia:
"The creative team responsible for the game must include at least two experienced games practitioners, each of whom has:
credits in a senior development role on at least two publicly available games,
OR
at least two years experience in a senior development role on large-scale PC or console game/s.
A ‘senior development role’ is defined as a leading role in the areas of production, design, art or programming. A ‘large-scale PC or console game’ would have a budget around $4 million or more.

A sole developer may apply if they have created and released at least two publicly available games as a sole developer. "

@gwald

I am not affiliated with Scarlet's game or tutorials. He does all that awesomeness on his own!

Keep up the great work Scarlet, i really enjoy your work. Once I get comfortable enough with Esenthel, I hope to post some of my own tutorials.

It was me gwald. I will refer to the company in question as 'him/he' as again I have no axe to grind.

In response to him telling the customers, who were complaining that they'd possibly been scammed into paying more than new users for the same software, to 'stop their whining' I posted that he had 'absolutely no respect for his customers' and I guess he didn't like that!

He subsequently deleted the entire thread including both comments presumably in an attempt to hide what had been said and banned me from the forums.

I hadn't read Scarlets entry in his blog prior to now but that's a reasonable account of what's gone on from my perspective. Well posted Scarlet!

The software was never worth more than $200 per module and even that's debatable. People are still defending him over there by claiming he reduced it from $3000 which is laughable. He'd have been completely dead in the water and the laughing stock of the video game development community the world over!

Either way, it did me a big favour by forcing my hand to buy Esenthel which is without a doubt a huge upgrade for me and at considerably less cost. I also gain an engine developer who seems to be much more in tune with his customer base smile

RE: Video Tutorials
Hey Scarlet, thanks for making those video 'tutorials' or Vlogs, I think I've caught up now and watched them all! Very informative! These are my cup of tea, as I'm looking more for new techniques and ideas, different perspectives etc., rather then step-by-step guides. Plus I also like to watch what and how other people are doing it (kind of a gamedev voyeur if you will smile

@Pixel, I take it you'll be porting both your projects to EE then ?

RE: Video Tutorials
Hi Para, no initially it's just The Kingdom Of Soul, my FPS game project Stranded has had to be put on hold for just now due to lack of time. If all goes well with this project then I'd like to port the other in the future. Although my base engine code features support for both genres so by porting the code for one I will inherit a lot of functionality for the other anyway.

Wow, I'm really in disbelief, I thought the story stopped there, but wow epic fail!
It's a shame, I saw v3 on youtube, looks pretty sweet.. but still prefer EE smile

RE: Video Tutorials
LE3 is decievingly sweet. Wait until u see all the vital missing features and u will realise it is a gimmick engine made to make gimmicky mobile games.

RE: Video Tutorials
Woooo! It's great to be back on the internetz!

I've been moving into my first owned home (buy buy rent... hello mortgage) So I haven't been able to make any video's recently... or access internet much for the last 2 weeks. Today I just finished putting a couple hundred meters of Cat6 networking cable through my house roof and walls (freaking mission) so that I can get internet access without wires all over the house. You could say I'm not rather familiar with the inside of my roof :| (bloody hot up there)

Ok now that that is out of my system...

I'll be pretty busy next few weeks so I've decided, as a result of a request from a community member, to go through some of the Esenthel examples and explain them so that newbies can get a better context. I'll also go a bit more in detail and explain possible different or more realistic ways of doing things for a proper game.

Sorry to yall that like video's about techniques or more advanced stuff. Unfortunately they take a lot more time and effort which I have little of now, so I'll just be doing a few easy ones for now wink

Peace out, should roll out the next one in the next couple of days.
