I notice the latest SDK has become alot slower on loading/unloading/rendering world areas with multiple materials in EE1.0, just adding two or three different materials slows the loading drastically. However slow loading is noticed in EE2.0 also if you add multiple materials to a terrain, it is understandable that loading would be slower but adding two or three materials total makes the editor stop for every row of area compared to loading areas almost smoothly with only 1 material.
